Hello Members and Friends.
Shaun Sanders, Roosevelt Leonard, and some members of the Team 7 initiative, met with Reverend Jessie Jackson and his representatives in Chicago on June 15th.

June 16th, Our National President spoke before 500 people at the Rainbow Push Coalition breakfast.  Roosevelt and Billy Clark participated in radio interviews on WVON 1690 in Chicago.  The interview is on the web.  At 11:00 am, Shaun spoke at a press conference.  Black press, ABC, and NBC were present.  Another press conference was held this evening.  Shaun sends this message to you... "this is a very humbling experience.  By all accounts, I represented you well.  There is no turning back now, We have come too far".  Roosevelt stated...  "Shaun  was excellent on speaking to our issues".

Members, let's remember to thank our Leaders for all that they do for us.

If you would like more information about the team 7 initiative, contact me and/or refer to the minutes from the past few Chapter meetings.

From the Regional President:

Hi,

I pray everyone has had a joyous holiday season, and you are now well rested and ready to get back to work.  A special thanks and congratulations to our past Regional Presidents; Mrs. Willette Neal, our new NBCFAE National Secretary, and Mr. Roosevelt Lenard our new NBCFAE National Vice President. The Southern Region is definitely making its presence known at the National Level of the organization.  Although our leadership has changed, the goals of the Southern Region remain unchanged. The main goal is to improve and increase our communication efforts with the entire membership. I shared with the executive board, (I know they have shared it with you
J but just in case we may have missed a few) “Team Work Makes the Dream Work” and each of us must come together and work hard if we want to build a team that is unstoppable.

We are still faced with issues such as the FAA’s hiring practices, retention tactics, unequal discipline practices and EEO complaints. I would like to commend you on your recruitment initiatives, although we have a long way to go we are definitely seeing more beautiful minority faces walking in our doors. A special thanks to you, the Southern Region, for jump starting the (recruitment) initiative that has now extended to the National Level. We have yet to see the all the fruits of our labor flourish and the new contract will slow down hiring and the training of new hires, so we must be diligent in ensuring the new employees receive fair and equitable treatment.

As we continue to tackle these and other tasks, we ask that each and everyone continue to provide feedback and to utilize your special talent to help us move forward as a team so that we can help to make the dream work for ourselves as well as others. Our local chapters need your help and I need your help. Try to become actively involved, encourage others to work with you, and please don’t just wait until there is a problem to get motivated or to ask for help. Consider enlisting the services of the new talent that’s entering your facilities (when they are not training); try pulling them into the team as your monitor and assist with their progress. Remember together we can make a difference. Join the TEAM!! I look forward to serving as your Regional President.

In Unity,

Paquita
